KENYA : Blazers rally to edge out KPA
Blazers rallied from 23-33 down at halftime to edge out Kenya Ports Authority 65-63 in a Kenya Basketball Federation men’s premier league match Saturday at the Moi International Sports Center, Kasarani.
Abel Nson led the comeback scoring 20 points for Blazers while Jay Michoma added 10. The top scorer for KPA was Ariel Okal on 24 points. In another match, Robert Mwangi and Howard Nyerere scored 17 and 12 points respectively to steer Trailblazers to a narrow 65-59 win over Little Prince.
At halftime, Trailblazers led 40-24. Victor Okoth and Brian Reagan scored 15 and 13 points respectively for Little Prince who came back strongly in the second half.
It was however a convincing 71-39 win for Cooperative Bank over University of Nairobi’s Terror. The bankers narrowly led 32-22 at halftime.
Joseph Ondinyo scored 17 points and Tony Obondo 12 for Cooperative Bank. Terror replied through Hillary Kubai (14) and Collins Jetugo (8). Strathmore University easily beat Zetech 72-55. They led 31-22 at halftime.
Top scorers for Strathmore University were Shelton Deter (24) and James Wanjala (15). Zedekiah Oganga replied with 13 points for Zetech.
KPA crush KCA
At the Nyayo National Stadium, KPA overran KCA University 84-19. They raced to a 35-7 lead at halftime. Hellen Oketch scored 13 points for KPA and Dorothy Agesa contributed 11 for KCA University.
Cooperative Bank won the next match 48-35 against Storms. Cecilia Asila (11) and Irene Makori (9) were the top scorers for Cooperative Bank. Susan Akinyi top scored for Storms on 13 points with Angela Luchivya contributing 9.
On Friday, Kenya Commercial Bank Lions beat Thunder 80-73 at MISC, Kasarani. They led 42-33 at halftime. Ancette Wafula scored 23 points and Tobias Onyango 15 for the bankers. Patrick Odhiambo replied for Thunder with 16 points and Griffin Ligare 11.
