KENYA : Co-op Bank slay Strathmore Blades in KBF Premier League

KBF Premier League Defending Champions Co-op Bank beat Strathmore University 82-61 on Saturday afternoon at the Nyayo gymnasium to continue with their on and off performance in the league. Co-op has so far lost 3 matches in the league with last weekend’s loss to USIU Tigers being the latest.
Co-op Bank lost the 1st quarter 11-16 but they made a comeback in the subsequent quarters winning all of them (2nd quarter 18-11, 3rd quarter 22-15 and 4th quarter 25-19) to take the 2 league points home. Pascal Nabwana was Strathmore’s top point scorer giving the Makadara based students 13 points while Co-op Bank point guard Salim Ali sunk in 15 points for the Bankers.
In the other Premier league matches played at Nyayo Gymnasium Defending champs in the ladies category Eagle Wings beat newly promoted Kenyatta University Oryx 76-30 to remain unbeaten since the league kicked off in April. Anne Rose Atieno and Janet Akoth gave Eagle Wings 12 and 10 points respectively while Janet Shikuku had 8 points to her name for KU Oryx.
Sylvia Kamau’s Strathmore Blades registered their first win in the 2013 season after they beat fellow University students KCA-U 54-27. Strathmore took the first 3 quarters the scores being 10-2 in the 1st quarter, 25-6 in the 2nd quarter and 5-3 in the 3rd quarter. KCA was able to take the last quarter of the match with a 2 point difference the score being 16-14. The league resumes on Sunday at the same venue.
