RWNDA : Espoir closes in on Playoffs for final title

Espoir are one game away from adding the basketball league Playoff title to the regular season crown after thumping archrivals APR 106-54 in Game Two of the playoff final played on Sunday at Amahoro Indoor Stadium court.

The Nyambirambo-based side extended their unbeaten sequence the entire season to 20 games. Former APR point guard Kami Kabange was top scorer for Espoir with 25 points and was well supported by Aristide Mugabe, who had 19 points. 
As was the case in Game One, Lionel Hakizimana was APR’s top scorer with 25 points of their total tally of 54 (points).
On Saturday, Espoir won Game One 89-63 with Kabange again leading the scoring charts with 24 points while Aristide Mugabe added 16 points. Hakizimana scored 18 points for APR.
Game Three between Espoir and APR is scheduled for next Saturday.
Kigali Basketball Club won the third place after their opponents, Circle Sportif de Kigali whom they had beaten 72-62 in Game One on Saturday, failed to turn up for Game Two on Sunday.

In women’s league, APR beat National University of Rwanda 71-34 in Game Two to reach the final where they will face Ubumwe, who overcame Rwanda Allied Peace for Progress 46-40 in the other semi-final.

On Saturday, Rwanda Allied Peace for Progress lost to Ubumwe 35-60, while APR beat National University of Rwanda 81-41.
