KCB basketball team tactician Morris Shitsama has expressed his disappointment after news of team sponsors Kenya Commercial Bank withdrawing their sponsorship to the team. In a letter written to the Kenya Basketball Federation, KCB said the team will no longer be part of the KBF Premier League in the next season.
Speaking to michezoafrika.com, coach Shitsama said the move was a huge blow not only to him and the players but to basketball in Kenya as a whole,
“Honestly we are all very devastated considering KCB was one of the top teams in the KBF Premier League and with some of the best fans. It is also the oldest club in Kenyan history." He said.
"What will happen to the players? Will they start shopping for new teams?" Shitsama adds.
KCB finished in 3rd place last season a slot lower than the past two seasons where they finished in the finals though they lost to rivals Cooperative Bank who have won the title for the last three years.
The lost to Coop Bank in the semi finals of last year’s Play offs but recovered to defeat KPA in the 3rd and 45th play offs.
