KENYA : Positive start for Kenyan teams in Daresalaam

The Kenyan basketball teams at the ongoing Zone 5 African Cup of Nations qualifiers in Daresalaam Tanzania began their campaign on a high winning their opening matches in both the men and women categories respectively.
The women’s team defeated hosts Tanzania 74-32 while the men’s team had a good time out with a 71-63 win over Burundi.
The Kenyan men’s team is in a relatively easy group B fixture alongside Burundi and Somalia. Pool A features hosts Tanzania, Rwanda, Uganda and Egypt.
In the women’s category six teams are taking part in the competition namely: Hosts Tanzania, defending champions Rwanda, Kenya, Burundi, Egypt and Uganda.
The African Nations Cup will be held in DRC in August 2013.
