UGANDA : Win or bust for Dmark Power
Tonight is Game 2 of the evenly-balanced series. For defending champions Power, it is do-or-die because they trail 0-1 in the best-of-three series.
For Canons, the match will be a litmus test of their credentials as serious contenders for the title but more importantly, it presents the best opportunity to dump the intimidating Power.
Over the past six seasons, Power has always struggled to dominate teams in the regular season but it’s in the playoffs that they bring out their best.
In fact, Power has won all but one of their playoff series since 2007 – the 2009 playoff final to Warriors.
With such a daunting record, expect Barnes Ankunda’s men to be fired up at Lugogo. However, that won’t be enough if they don’t dominate from the onset against a well-organised Canons side.
Besides, there is little pressure on their opponents, who made Power miss miserably from the three-point line. And given Power’s big-match mentality, the Canons will push all stops to close out the series before the winner-takes-all.
