UGANDA : Soro injury hits Angels real hard

It was easy to write off Ndejje University Angels’ season the moment Geoffrey Soro limped out of the game against Nkumba Marines last Sunday after just six minutes. He has not only been their best player but also one of the very best in the Airtel National Basketball League as Ndejje hold on the final playoff spot.
Sadly, it’s bound to get worse before it gets better as they play Vegetarian in the penultimate fixture of their regular season at YMCA court today.
“It’s too bad and sad that such a wonderful season for I am forced into early retirement,” Soro, who went down under a challenge from Brian Sivachi, posted on his wall. “Anyway, can’t believe it but I tore some tendons in my knee and have to stop playing basketball for three months. Pray for me in this frustrating time.”
Soro has some harsh words for the opposition. “I don’t think it’s the best strategy that a team should adopt in order to win a ball game (is) by hurting their opponents.” Coach Walker Obedi must rejig his side to cope with Soro’s absence. Ndejje have won eight of their 21 games this season and today will ensure their place in the playoffs is confirmed.
