The path to being crowned the Airtel National Basketball League champion has been paved with the confirmation of the start of the playoffs next Friday. The postseason which will have quarterfinals being held for the first time starts on October 26.
These quarterfinals will be played on a best-of-three format across the four divisions.
According to the communication from Ali Balunywa, the Fuba publicist, the men’s division one and the women’s category semifinals remain best-of-five series from November 9-21. Finals in those divisions are scheduled for seven-game series two days after the completion of the semifinals.
Divisions Two and Three stick to best-of-three sprints for the semifinals and then grow to five games for the finals. All these games will still be at YMCA and Makerere main ground as the Lugogo MTN Arena remains unavailable due to the lack of hoops.
“I am hopeful that we should get hoops very soon,” Fuba president Ambrose Tashobya said. The prolonged rainy season is something Fuba must be worried about.
