A large portion of the final standings and quarterfinal matchups in the Airtel National Basketball League will be decided when KIU Titans face Falcons at YMCA court today.
Though the top two positions (Warriors and Falcons) are decided, the fight for third is very much alive.
At 16-5, two-time defending champions DMark Power hold a narrow edge over KIU, 15-5. The latter can almost make certain of third with victory over Falcons.
After today, Power and KIU will have to face Giant Stormers and Vegetarian respectively in games which look winnable for both sides. In case of a tie, which would imply that the duo finish with an identical record of 17-5, KIU will take third by virtue of their regular season double over Power.
More importantly, all those permutations will only matter if KIU do the double over Falcons having won the first leg 64-56. Fifth-placed UCU Canons will also be very interested. They will face the team that finishes fourth – either Power or KIU – in the quarters. KIU-Falcons marks the final week of the regular season which has served thrills and sleeping pills.
