Teams must market sport for sponsorships - Phebeni
BASKETBALL - SWAZILND National Basketball Association (SNBA) Vice-President Napoth Phebeni has urged teams to market the sport to get more sponsorships.
In an interview yesterday, Phebeni who also doubles as the league’s co-ordinator pointed out that it was time for the sport to be properly marketed countrywide.
“Basketball is not only one of the fast growing sports locally but we have established ourselves even internationally. We are trying to create awareness about the sport but this must be a collective effort from all those who are passionate about the game,” he appealed.
He also highlighted that it is the association’s initiative to work hand in hand with teams in developing and promoting basketball in the country.
“As far as I see it, both parties are starting to show enthusiasm towards the sport but this will not be enough if those who love the sport do not come to the party. Even if companies are not yet ready to sponsor the sport but they should at least watch our games on weekends so that they see for themselves what we are talking about,” he appealed.
