Kenya: Western Delights Outduel Visiting Gladiators of Nairobi
WESTERN Delights thrashed Nairobi's Gladiators 49-33 in a hotly contested women's Premier League basketball match at Kakamega Police Canteen court yesterday.
Delights' Natalie Akinyi scored 8 points on the way to a 14-06 first quarter lead. Gladiators' Celestine Ondinyo, Catherine Magina and Anne Liambila scored 2 points each for their team.
Determined Delights reduced the Gladiators to 10-03 in the second quarter. At half time Western Delights were up 24-09.
In a swift turn of events, the visitors, realising their game plan was not working drilled the home team 13-08 but it was too little too late.
The home team made impressive scores through Natalie Akinyi who bagged six points in the match played in chilly weather.
