UGANDA : UCU Canons out to stop Dmark Power

The Airtel National Basketball League resumes this evening after a one week break with men’s defending champions Dmark Power taking on Mukono-based UCU Canons.
Power are in buoyant mood after finishing third in the recently-concluded Zone V championships and defeated Canons 75-64 in the opening game of the league four months ago. However, a lot has changed since; Power is one point ahead of the Canons in third behind BlueCube Falcons and Warriors.
Going into the match, Canons head coach Nick Natuhereza is confident of taking the two points. “It doesn’t matter that Power played well in Zone V…this is a league game and we are ready to take them on.”
Natuhereza’s men will be boosted by the return of centre Desmon Owili, who has missed their last three games.
Without him, the Canons lacked depth in the paint and couldn’t clean up the boards. “We are desperate to have him [Owili] play but it will also depend on his fitness because he has not played for some time,” Natuhereza adds.
In the ladies category, unbeaten Lady Canons take on A1 Challenge.
