UGANDA : Ndejje suffer to 10th defeat

Ndejje University Angels’ place in the Airtel National Basketball League playoffs is almost certain only because no one is giving chase.
On Sunday, their slump continued with 68-61 loss to Warriors, their fifth defeat in the last six games and 10th in total. They continue to cling on to the eighth and last slot at 6-10. Nkumba Marines, edged 55-52 by Heaters, is the only side capable of dislodging Ndejje.
The two-time champions lie ninth at 5-12 whereas Heaters, in seventh, are 9-8. Warriors, except for a few players, arrived late at YMCA court. It hardly mattered as the log leaders improved to 15-1.
Henry Malinga scored 17 points and seven rebounds and Norman Blick had 14 points, six rebounds and six assists. Donald Blick contributed 10 points.
Unsurprisingly, the three were the first Warriors players to show up, arriving an hour prior to the 7.30pm tip-off. “These things affect the warm up and eventually you start games slowly,” Warriors’ coach Mandy Juruni.
