UGANDA : Lugudde held over robbery

Police on Monday arrested and detained Isaac Lugudde to help them in investigations over the robbery of Shs100m from Lloyd Forex Bureau in February.
The DMark Power and national team player was by press time seeking bond at Central Police Station (CPS), Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesman, Ibin Ssenkumbi, revealed.
Ssenkumbi said they are investigating allegations that Lugudde and others still at large helped a security guard rob Shs100m from the Kampala-based forex bureau. “When the police arrested the guard in Alebtong District recently and carried out a search in his house, they found photographs of Lugudde. On interrogation, he alleged that Lugudde transported him from Kampala to his village to hide,” Ssenkumbi said.
Gunpoint
The guard and his accomplices reportedly put the forex bureau managers on gunpoint to execute the robbery. Ssenkumbi said the Resident State Attorney advised them to charge the guard with robbery but release Lugudde as investigations continue.
Lugudde’s mother, Dr Elizabeth Lugudde Katwe, denied that her son was arrested or detained. “That is false. I am here with him,” Dr Lugudde said on phone. Lugudde also denied that he was arrested. But Daily Monitor learnt that they were still at CPS when they received the call.
