Tony Oluka is impressed with what Falcons have achieved this far in the Airtel National Basketball League. The most successful side in the game here made it 11 victories in as many games beating free-falling Ndejje University Angels 58-49 at YMCA court on Sunday.
Philip Ameny scored 11 points and 12 rebounds, Peter Elungat contributed 13 whereas Stephen Omony and Julius Lutwama had 10 apiece.
Sharing the offensive responsibility has been a highlight of their game. “I am impressed with how far we have come so far,” head coach Oluka said.
Knowing that most of those 11 victories have come against teams Falcons is expected to beat anyway; Oluka still has his eye on the big picture.
“Our target is to win at least two of the final three fixtures,” he explained. Those games will be against KIU Titans, Warriors and DMark Power.
All three are expected to challenge for the crown along with Falcons and UCU Canons. Falcons will play them on successive Fridays starting next week. The six-time champions, at 16-2, are the only team with a realistic chance of dislodging Warriors (17-1) from the summit.
Power beat Victoria University Heaters 51-43 with Richard Balemwa scoring 16 points to hold on to third.
The champions are 13-4 thereby keeping UCU, 74-59 victors over Giants Stormers, 13-5, and KIU (13-5) at bay.
On the end of the table, Ndejje have now lost 11 including seven of the eight games.
