KENYA : Lions extend winning streak to maintain lead

KCB Lions on Saturday afternoon extended their lead at the top of the Kenya Basketball Federation Premier League (with 26 points) when they dismissed Thunder 77-53 at the Nyayo Gymnasium.Lions started with intent sinking in 21 points against Thunders 14 in the opening quarter and 21-11 in the second to register a 42-25 half time lead.
In the third quarter Thunder managed to hold Morris Shitsama’s side with both teams settling on 13 points. Thunder captained by Griffins Ligare who gave his side 13 points overall could not match the power of the Lions going down 15-22 in the final quarter. Tobias Onyango who has been crucial in the Lions campaign sank in 21 points for his side while Yoni Mwanabiro had 13 points. James Ragot gave Thunder 14 points.
In other matches played at the Nyayo gymnasium, Safe Spaces had a good outing humbling Mennonites 52-38 while in the Division One League Umoja overcame Kenyatta University Pirates 56-43 and Parkland beat EMYBA 58-42.
Madaraka based Strathmore University moved to 5th place on the log after they beat Blazers 54-29 with Nickson Konya and Cliffton Odhiambo each contributing 9 points.
Strathmore face UON Terrorist on Sunday at the same venue from 4.30pm.
