UGANDA : Power, Warriors face off

In preparation for Zone V. Kyambogo Warriors and DMark Power know what it takes to play at the grand stage. The two giants have featured in many playoffs and their Airtel National Basketball League clash today is a sure thriller as both sets of players will be looking to fine tune their combinations in preparation for the Zone V.
The regional meet will be held in Kampala from August 20-26. When the two faced off in the first round, Warriors led 44-36 at the breather but couldn’t bury the game as Power rallied to win 71-68. Warriors, however, recovered from that loss and went on to beat UCU Canons and KIU Titans in the subsequent games to finish on top of the table standings with 21 points after the first round.
On the other hand, Power finished joint second with KIU and Falcons on 20 points. Now with MVP Isaac Afidra back in the fold after a back injury kept him out, Bernice Ankunda’s team looks as good as ever. Afidra was the difference with 14 points, 11 rebounds, six assists and four steals as Power steamrolled Ndejje Angels 90-64 recently. Ankunda is confident his side can prevail over Warriors before turning focus to the Zone V. “Every game is crucial,” he said. We need to take it one game at a time and then look at the big picture when the Zone V starts.”
