Four Falcons scored in double digits and three of the starters grabbed double-doubles as Falcons beat Nkumba Marines 75-49 on Wednesday night. Center, Philp Ameny (12 points, 16 rebounds), forward, Peter Elungat (13 points, 12 rebounds) and guards, Steven Omony (12 points, 12 rebounds, 4 assists) and Julius Lutwama (12 points) led Falcons to their seventh win in a row.
Falcons (12-2) used size to dominate Marines (5-9) as the most successful team in the local game, Falcons battered the University side 80-53 on the boards with 30 offensive.
Wilson Otweyo paced Marines with 13 points and 12 boards. Julius Nkoyoyo scored 4 points and picked 14 rebounds while Danison Ngati and Alex Mugoya chipped in with 7 a piece for Nkumba. The loss left former champions, Marines a point below the post season place with 9 games left on the regular season schedule.
In the women's division, Flavia Oketcho and Martha Soigi combined for 31 points to lead KCCA Leopards to a 66-31 win over Gladiators. Carol Badaru added 13 points and 13 rebounds for Leopards (13-1). Claire Lamuno continued her impressive performance for Gladiators. She scored 8 points, picked joint game high 13 rebounds and blocked 3 shots. Joan Birungi added 6 points for Gladiators (7-8).
