Nigeria: Milo Basketball - Four Schools Through to Semis

FOUR schools, Queen of the Rosary Girls College Benue, Ajigbeda Girls School Lagos, Ahmadiya College Kano and International School Lagos have qualified for the semi finals of the14th Milo Secondary School Basketball Championship holding at the Indoors Sports Hall of the National Stadium in Lagos.
Female defending champions, Queen of the Rosary had to go through extra time to beat Yejide Girls Grammar School Oyo 30-21 after tying 21 points apiece at the end of the fourth quarter.
Lagos' Ajigbeda Girls School booked their semi final ticket after beating Taraba Government Secondary School 36-26 in the second group match. The Lagos girls had earlier beaten Delta's Anglican Girls Grammar School 27-25 in their first match.
With this, they are expected to play in today's semifinal.
In the boys' event, with two wins in the last two days, Kano's Ahmadiyah College has joined the girls from Lagos and Benue States to berth in the semifinal stage of the competition.
The Kano team yesterday defeated Niger's Government Secondary School 49-33, after beating Ebonyi's St Augustine Seminary 42-33 in its first match on Tuesday.
The Coach Ernest Ijeomah-tutored International School, Lagos (ISL) is also in the race for a place in the last four after recording an emphatic 36-21 victory over Ondo's Greater Tomorrow College in its first group match.
The Lagos team narrowly defeated Government Secondary School, Ilorin in a nail biting second group match which ended in a 35-36 score.
The boys' teams will compete in the semifinals on Friday which would be immediately followed by the third place matches for both categories.
