KENYA : Kenyan champions urgently need half a million

Kenya Basketball Premier League champions Eagle Wings require close to 800,000 Kenya shillings to facilitate their participation in this year’s Zone 5 regional club championship set for Kampala later this month on 20th -26th of August 2012
The club has announced that they are facing a half a Million shillings deficit on their budget and team officials are now calling on well wishers and corporate companies for support.
During their last outing at the Zone 5 competition in Burundi in 2010, the reigning Kenyan champions qualified for the African club championships in Tunisia but failed to travel since they
The self supported club also failed to take part in last year’s edition held in Daresalaam but they have all their eyes set on clinching the regional title for a ticket to Ivory Coast later in the year.
“The girls are determined to win the regional title because it has always been known to be a Kenyan trophy. We have prepared well and we are looking forward to a challenging experience against the best clubs in the region.” Eagle Wings team manager Nellie Odera told michezoafrika.com.
“It is challenging at the moment and we need finances to facilitate our participation. Currently we are running low on our budget and days are approaching fast, so we call on well wishers to come in and support the girls. We have intensified our training and the team is motivated to bring the title back to Kenya.” Odera added.

KPA are the regional defending champions after winning last year’s edition in Dare salaam.
