Ivan Enabu is so eager to start competing again, he is worried his body could turn into something strange if he doesn’t start soon.
“I am so hungry I could turn into a mutant,” joked the Kyambogo Warriors guard, who has missed his team’s last six games in the Airtel National men’s basketball league but is now in shape to take to the court.
Enabu has been nursing a damaged heel that has provoked memories of last year’s finals when a groin injury significantly limited his productivity and arguably contributed to Kyambogo’s 4-3 loss to champions D’Mark Power.
“These injuries have been frustrating but it doesn’t help to focus on the negative stuff,” said the magical player. One thing Enabu has focused on is how well his team has coped without him and Eric Malinga, the reigning league MVP.
“It shows how far we have come as a team that the guys have managed to play well despite the injuries,” said Enabu.
The Warriors top the standings at the halfway stage of the regular season and with Enabu returning and Malinga weeks away from a come-back, Kyambogo are deliciously poised ahead of the business end of the season.
