Div 3. Cranes vs. S. Jamemers (2pm)The gap between the top five men’s sides in the Airtel Basketball National League is so small that fifth-placed UCU Canons believe the title is not a far cry. Many would disagree mainly because of the way they finish games which their coach Nicholas Natuhereza was the biggest correction they needed.
Boniface Okello, signed from champions Power, thinks “anger management” is the solution.
On their first appearance of the second round on Friday at YMCA court, UCU found preliminary answers to those problems in defeating the lethargic KIU Titans 59-44. Centre Desmond Owili led the charts with 17 points and 10 rebounds and guard Sudi Ulanga contributed 15 points to improve to 8-4 but remain fifth on the log.
“This break was always going to help us know ourselves better,” Natuhereza, who lost key players at the end of last season, said.
Perhaps, a lengthy halftime break for musicians to perform and lots of fun competitions helped.
