UGANDA : Power turn heat on Angels

The playoffs don’t come until October 12 at the earliest and DMark Power’s place in the Airtel National Basketball League Classic 8 is not in doubt.
However, the ideal situation cannot be for the champions to stumble there. That’s what they seem to be doing now.
Following two successive defeats, Power can go a long way in restoring parity when they face Ndejje University Angels at YMCA court today. “We are not in crisis,” Power coach Bernice Ankunda, said, echoing the words of his skipper Isaac Afidra. “I think players are burnt out,” Ankunda added.
Power have reached the last four finals, winning three crowns. The latter’s two titles have come via grueling seven game series.
For Ben Komakech, also a starter for Team Uganda, it implies perhaps the longest hours on court. The point guard has managed only 18 points in the losses to Falcons and Miracle Eagles as Power have fallen to 9-3.
“I will give Ben a rest,” Ankunda noted. Joseph Ikong returns after missing the last four games well aware that his teammates have won once while he was away in the US. Ndejje could be the cushion the five-time champions needed to land. They lost 46-36 to Victoria University Heaters last Sunday.
