UGANDA : Pay back: Canons dominate, beat Titans 59-44

Pay back: Canons dominate, beat Titans 59-44Desmond Owili scored game high 17 points, grabbed 10 and blocked four shots to led UCU Canons to a 59-44 win over KIU Titans on Friday night at YMCA. Sudi Ulanga added 15 points as Canons (8-4) dominated from tipoff to the final buzzer and looked much better prepared for the game than their oponents.

UCU's coach Nicholas Natuhereza got his game game approach on point. He employed a man-to-man on KIU's point gurad Salim Ali and it paid off. Brian Namake and Boniface Okello used their size and almost perfected the man-to-man on one of the best point guards in the league as he was forced to cough up the ball six times though he scored team high 8 points for Titans (8-3). KIU came as close as 42-46 with 7:07 in the final quarter but not any nearer than that all the way as Canons finished the game on a 13-2 run.
Titans had a terrible shooting night going 16-for-66 from the field and their trips to the line did not pay off either going 11-for-22. Micheal Makiadi scored 7 points and grabbed 10 rebounds for KIU. All KIU starters played for over 30 minutes and combined for only 33 points, one less than two Canons, Owili and Ulanga.
Meanwhile, Sylvia Kawesa dropped 28 points to pace Magic Stormers to a 74-47 win over MUK Sparks. Stormers, Carol Nyafwono and Rukia Meeme added 14 and 11 points respectively. Sparks were led by Charlin Karungi with 13 points and Winnie Anyango added 10 points. Norah Namutosi's 17 rebounds went along with 5 points for Sparks.
