UGANDA : KIU chase top spot at expense of UCU Canons

The second round of the Airtel National Basketball League gets underway today at YMCA Court with the top sides hoping to find the blueprint for the playoffs. Among those in a precarious situation is UCU Canons. The Mukono side face KIU Titans desperate to improve on a indifferent first round which ended with them fifth on log. They lost to Warriors, KIU, Falcons and DMark Power, the four teams above them.
These will constitute the opposition UCU will encounter in the postseason. “I think we need to finish games better,” UCU coach Nicholas Natuhereza said. That could begin with erasing a 52-41 loss to KIU, arguably the most talked about team, earlier this season. Robert Ogweno is fine after a string of knee injuries that started in Game Two of last year’s semifinal series with Warriors.
UCU lost 3-2 then and still await a maiden final appearance following four semifinals defeats in five years. “The rehab is done and he is okay,” Natuhereza revealed.
