UGANDA : Falcons hot 3-point shooting sinks Power
Julius Luwama scored 17 points and dropped 8 dimes to lead Falcons to a 78-66 win over DMark Power on Friday night at YMCA.
Steven Omony scored 8 of his 15 points in the first quarter as Falcons (9-2) pulled away with the period 25-20. Power (9-2) rallied back in the second through team play and trailled 34-36 at halftime
Ben Komakech (13 points) opened the third quarter with a mid-range jumper and Emma Enabu (13 points) followed with a lay-up to put Power infront.
Trailing 41-43, Falcons' bigman, Philp Ameny (8 points, 9 rebounds) hammered it down to tie the game. Luwama hit a go-ahead corner trey and Falcons didnt trail again.
Power pulled with in 61-63 in the fourth quarter with 2:15 to the buzzer but was the closest they did as Falcons went on a 15-5 run all the way.
Isaac Afidra's double-double (10 points, 11 rebounds) was in a losing effort as Falcons knocked down 10 of 16 from beyond the arc.
Falcons improved their winning streak to 5 as Power dropped their second in 3 games and were beaten in size in absence of Joseph Ikong and Micheal Kojo.
Geofrey Omondi piled up 11 points and handed out 8 assists and Peter Elungat also chipped in with 11 points for Falcons.
Meanwhile, Center, Micheal Makiadi poured in 22 points and picked 7 rebounds to pace KIU Titans to a 78-59 win over Nkumba Marines. Denis Akena added 13 points, Francis Kasekende and Salim Ali chipped in with 12 points each.
Titans (9-2) did most of the damage from the line, hitting 36 of 51 shots and Makiadi nailed 12 of his 13 foul shots. Ladislaus Ikungura led Marines with 15 points, Julius Nkoyoyo and Brian Savachi added 10 points each.
