UGANDA : DMark Power bury lean spell despite Soro class

DMark Power must think normal service has resumed. The champions decimated Ndejje University Angels 90-64 in the Airtel National Basketball League on Friday at YMCA court. Power came into the game on the back of two losses and just one victory in four. A 28-13 lead at the start of the first quarter put daylight between them and the mid-table side. Joseph Ikong scored 18 points and five rebounds on his return after missing four games and Isaac Luggudde contributed 16 points. Power is now 10-3, just behind leaders Warriors (11-1). They are also ahead of KIU Titans (9-3) and Falcons (9-2) having played more games. “This is a team sport so like everyone else, I put some pluses and minuses,” Ikong, refusing to take too much of the credit, told Sunday Monitor. The former league top scorer was spot-on. Point guard Ben Komakech contributed 14 and Isaac Afidra had 13 while Carol Bisereko (4) got his debut after mini-retirement. That was more than sufficient to upstage Geoffrey Soro’s solo effort worth a game-high 24 points and 18 rebounds.Michael Opolot scored 18 points but Ndejje committed 35 turnovers which gave away easy points on the transition. The playoffs hopefuls are now 6-7 following two defeats in two.
