KENYA : Kenyan Basketball veterans ready to take on Burundi

Ken Ondiek, the captain of the Kenya veterans’ basketball team that will play Burundi on Saturday at the Nyayo Gymnasium from 2pm has said that the golden boys are more than ready for their opponents and to offer entertainment to the fans.
The Kenyan team has been training hard at the Railways club ahead of the match and captain Ondiek while speaking before their practice session on Thursday evening assured that they will emerge victors.
“We have been training for the past two weeks and we are ready. We are all experienced and we know how the game goes so the technical aspect of the game has no problem.” Ondiek said. He added that plans are underway to sell the idea to the other regional federations so as to extend the veterans competition across the East African region.
“We intend to spread this to the whole of East Africa where veteran players from the region can also take part.”
Ondiek is a former EMYBA player and also one time CO-OP bank coach (first coach) where he won four K.B.F premier league titles with the side was optimistic that they would emerge victorious.
He is part of a well decorated Kenyan squad that also has George Omondi, Ronnie Owino, Peter Otieno, Dan O Were, Patrick Kariuki, Andrew Abala, Joseph Amoko, Vincent Oyunga, Agina Wesonga, Emmanuel Ochieng, Caleb Osewe and Justus Akhwesa.

The Burundi Veterans team is expected in Nairobi on Friday at 3pm.
The Kenyan Veterans have called on basketball lovers to turn up in large numbers on Saturday to watch the old boys do their jig in style.
