KENYA :Eagle Wings survive the Storm

Kenya Basketball Ladies’ defending champions Eagle Wings on Saturday struggled to defeat Storms in a thrilling face off at the Nyayo stadium gymnasium winning with a two points’ margin of 54-56.
Storms came to the match fired up after their 60-47 triumph over Strathmore Swords a day before during the Friday night basketball. Faustin Mandu was again the best scorer for Storms on Saturday though her 13 points could not distract the Eagle’s path to triumph.Mandu on Friday garnered 19 points to guide her team past Strathmore.
Storms commenced with a powerful break away leading Eagle Wings 10-5 by the end of the first quarter.Angela Okoth and Silalei Shani led some good charges that helped in clipping the Storms in the second quarter before maintaining the lead to the end.
In another match played on Saturday, KCB Lions maintained their form with an 85-54 maul over students MMUST.Chiza Aristote scored 20 points on the day for the Lions.
On Friday evening during the Friday night basketball action that has fast gained popularity, United States International University men’s team was the better side when they managed to beat fellow students Strathmore 76 – 64.
The match was characterized by frequent tense moments that saw the match stopped more than once due to fan trouble and also the sending off of Strathmore Coach Tony Ochieng But USIU maintained their calm to win the day.
