UGANDA : American stars romp to easy win over K’la

The visiting USA street basketball team predictably overran Kampala All Stars 100-78 in an entertaining encounter at Makerere grounds on Saturday.
The AND1 stars delighted the huge crowd with stunning dunks, ankle-breaking dribbles and sharp shooting on their second visit to Uganda.
Dennis Chism aka Spyda was the highlight of the night, scoring a game high 32 points. His teammate Brandon LaCue aka Werm added 24 points as the Americans built onto a 53-36 halftime lead to win with ease.
The Kampala All Stars, made of Uganda’s best players like Norman Blick, Ben Komakech, Joseph Ikong, and the Enabu brothers Ivan, Emmanuel and Jimmy, won the third quarter 32-29 but it only lessened the damage.
The AND1 stars sealed their victory in the fourth quarter, winning 18-10. “The game was very interesting. We played basic basketball and they played street basketball and that is why it was hard for us to catch up. But it was fun,” said Sudi Ulanga, who nailed 11 points for Kampala.
Richard Omondi was the highest scorer for the Ugandan side with 13 points. “This has been the best game in all the countries we have toured, said Emcee Roll, a member of the AND1 squad. ‘‘We did not expect to meet such a mammoth crowd but we are happy they enjoyed every moment.” Coca-Cola country manager Maggie Kigozi said the tour will be an annual event aimed at helping to promote Ugandan basketball by inspiring young players to practice the game.
