DMark Power captain Isaac Afidra joined the national basketball champions last evening in practice just hours after the team received new financial backing.

Yesterday, Power’s quest for a record equaling sixth title got a Sh30m boost from Crown Beverages, under their 7UP brand.

The purse was enticing enough to get Afidra, currently inactive with a back problem, join his teammates. “I am only here to shoot and gain rhythm,” Afidra said at the unveiling of the one-year deal at YMCA court. He hasn’t played since sinking the game-changing three-pointer in the decider as Power edged Warriors 4-3 in the finals last December. “He will play in three months,” Power coach Bernice Ankunda said. “No, it will take a shorter time than that, maybe the second round.” Bernadette Kizza, the 7UP brand manager, unveiled the deal.
