NIGERIA : Kano Pillars Halt Defenders Winning Streak

The Defenders lost to Kano Pillars in the DStv premier Basketball league by 77-65 points. The Civil Defense team which had a bad start this season did a great come back during the week 8 and 9 of the DStv premier Basketball league in the Savannah conference.
The Defenders were able to beat Yelwa Hawks and Kada Stars in the week 8 and 9 respectively. The Yelwa Hawks and Kada Stars hold second and third positions in the Savannah conference of the DStv Premier Basketball league.
The presumption held in different quarters regarding the fortunes of the club, which had turned for the better was dashed when the impressive Kano Pillars crushed their dream of continuing their winning streak. The defeat of the Civil Defense by Kano Pillars will make other teams in the Savannah conference wary of a clash with the latter.
Coach of the Defenders, Paul Gombwar, revealed that his team was lucky to escape with a 12 points defeat as it is not unusual for Kano Pillars to win games by more than 20 points.
He assured fans of the team that the next game with Yelwa Hawks will be an assured win. The Civil Defense had earlier outclassed the Yelwa Hawks in the week 8 of the DStv premier Basketball league at the Savannah conference.
