NIGERIA : Dodan Warriors Maintain Lead at Atlantic Conference

Lagos — Dodan Warriors yesterday continued with their good run in the DStv Premier Basketball League with a nervous victory over rivals Islanders.
The Warriors who won the encounter by 14 points margin were stretched to limit by the power playing Islanders who gave a good account of themselves but crumbled for lack of cohesion and team work.
The match eventually ended 91-77, with the Sam Ahmedu boys winning the four quarters at 20-14, 44-31, 64-44 and 91-77.
Ahmedu in a post match chat admitted that his boys played below expectation and tasked them that the race for the title has just begun.
"Since we won our first four games my boys taught the league has been won but I have just told them that since they are the target having not lost any match they need to work harder to remain at the top. Basketball is a cruel sport even if you are leading with only 3 minutes to go with 20 points it is not over he said.
He said what kept them going was because the boys had been together in camp, sleeping, eating and training together.
He promised the players additional bonus if they could win the remaining four matches left just as they face Islanders in the return leg next Sunday.
In other matches played over the weekend, Royal Hooper defeated Comets 65-52 to maintain the second position at the Conference while Police Machine team humiliated last years final eight runners up Union Bank by 64-56 margin.
