Updated on 30/04/12 | By BRIAN AYIEKO

Barclays Bank Eaglets went down to a surprise defeat to Mt. Kenya University – Thika Campus in the ongoing Nairobi Basketball Association League in a match played at the Railways Sports Club on Sunday.Barclays who were a more experienced side of the two lost 13 – 25 to debutants MKU-Thika.
But Barclays did not fail to give an explanation to their poor outing attributing the loss to lack of training. Tactician Anselm Anzaya said “We have not been training since getting a place to practice has been a problem but that has been sorted and in due time we shall recover. MKU were also disciplined compared to us and they won it’’
On the opposite end, Idi Shabba the MKU head coach expects that his team will hold to the good start and continue to register positive results,
“Our opponents were the more experienced side but we had the desire to win. At a point when we were down we lacked the discipline in defense but we rectified on that, became composed and were able to come back. The fact that we had lost to Safe Spaces (junior team) on Saturday we had to win today.”
In another ladies match played on Sunday, Safe Spaces were beaten by University side Kenya College of Accountancy. The match saw KCA prevail 41 points against Safe Space’s 31 points.

In the men’s matches of the day Neosasa Morans beat Woodley Knights 62–35 while Heroes went down to Legacy 37 – 46. Athi River based side Daystar University registered another win when they beat Mt. Kenya University – Nairobi campus 46 – 28.

The league resumes next weekend at the same venue.
