NIGERIA : Civil Defence Abandon Game Due to Security Threat

The Civil Defence basketball team of Abuja, yesterday, abandoned their clash with Immigration. The game, scheduled to hold in Kano was allegedly abandoned due to incessant Boko Haram attacks. The Abuja-based club decided to boycott the game to ensure the safety of its players.
The club has lost all its games in this season's Dstv premier basketball league and presently, things do not look too good for the club.
Rumours making the rounds suggest that the current financial situation of the club, rather than insecurity, was the key reason it couldn't make the commitment.
Team coach, Paul Gombwar, told LEADERSHIP SPORTS that the secretary of the 'Nigerian Basketball Federation (NBBF), Francis Gbiri, has postponed the game to Wednesday, April 11. Feelers within the NBBF house, however, say that the points for the game have been awarded to the Immigration team.
