Equity basketball team survived a scare as they beat Heroes in a tight Nairobi Basketball Association (Division 2) Basketball league match that was played at the Railways club on Saturday.
Equity was playing its first match in the league that started last weekend. They beat their opponents 43 – 36 to register a positive result on their debut.
By the second quarter, Equity was trailing Heroes on a 16 – 22 score line. In the third quarter, Equity rallied back and by the end of the quarter they were ahead by two baskets the score being 32 – 30 in favor of Equity. This invited a more rejuvenated final quarter that was entertaining to the final point with Equity emerging winners.
Radhi Ndalu the Equity tactician admitted that their opponents were a good side but they lacked the experience ‘’they are good but they lack experience. We capitalized on match composure and experience and that’s why we were capable of winning’’. He also added that Heroes lacked ‘a big man’ and that also cost them.
Samuel Mogoka the Heroes vice- captain who had an impressive outing blamed the defeat to the lack of depth in the side ‘’ we had a total of seven players that means we had only two subs, this was a challenge.”
