RWANDA > Hoops can bounce back in 2013-Cameron

RWANDA’S small forward Bradley Cameron is backing Rwanda to come good during the 2013 Afrobasket.

The team endured a tough time at this year’s Afrobasket tournament in Madagascar, were they finished 12th out of 16 teams with only one win to their name.
Cameron, 20, who plays for Mississippi Gulf Coast in the USA and was a key figure in the 2009 Afrobasket tourney held in Libya, blamed the poor performance on inadequate preparations.
“At the top level, preparations have to be 100 per cent so else, you will be punished. That’s what happened to us. We were not ready for the tournament. We did not gel as a team,” the player said.
Some of Rwanda’s defeats came against Egypt 66-76 and Ivory Coast 72-80.
Meanwhile, Rwanda, who hosted the 2009 edition, are bidding to host the 2013 event but face stiff competition from Tunisia and Ivory Coast.
The winner will be announced next week during the course of the 2011 Fiba-Africa Women championship slated to run from September 23-October 2 in Mali.
