SEYCHELLES : Baya and PLS Hawks are unbeaten in the league

FORMER men’s division one champions Baya are the early championship leaders of the top flight with maximum points – 8 – after winning all their four games.

Coach Michel Malbrook’s latest win was against MBU Rockers on a 65-43 score on Sunday at the Palais des Sports. They also reached the century mark in their previous match against Anse Boileau-based Angels in a 103-72 victory.

Rockers are sixth in the 10-team league standings with five points after two wins and a loss, while Angels are a place from bottom with just two after suffering two defeats in as many outings.

Defending champs PLS Hawks trail Baya by two points and have a match in hand on the leaders. In their last two games, the Hawks, who are without suspended player of the year Rodney Lozé, struggled against Mont Fleuri Dawgz before winning 73-67 and defeated Cascade Bullets 73-59.

While coach Nigel Ah-kong’s Dawgz are winless in three games, the Bullets, coached by Tony Juliette, boast an even win-lose record of 2-2 for six points and are fourth in the standings.

The Bullets’ latest win was on an 84-58 score against newcomers RA Herons who suffered a third consecutive defeat.
As for the Dawgz, they also lost 51-60 to Premium Cobras who are locked on six points with PLS Hawks and Cascade Bullets after garnering three wins in as many games played.

RC Dynamics’ only victory so far has come against last year’s division two champions Razors on an 82-61 score to put an end to a two-game losing streak and they are sixth on the table with four points.

Winless in two games, Razors are carrying the weight of the table.
In the men’s division two league, Pointe Larue Falcons defeated Anse Etoile 85-54, Praslin Warriors beat Beau Vallon Heat 68-57 and Drifters missed the century mark by a point by steamrollering LMS Youth 99-29.

Women’s champions HotShots won by a 50-point margin against Juniors – 84-34 – to lead main challengers Anse Etoile Stars who beat RA Sisters 80-36.

Both HotShots and Anse Etoile Stars have two points in the six-team league.
