KENYA : Team Hit Benin in Last Match

After failing in their bid to qualify for next year's World Junior basketball championship with a quarterfinal loss to Tunisia, Kenya still managed to hammer Benin 71-37.
The under 18 girls team vented their anger on Benin just as the classification match of the 10th Africa nations championships drew to a close in Tunis on Sunday.
Tunisia and Mali will play in the world championships after making the finals in Tunisia.
Kenya started the game a strong note and raced to a comfortable 24-10 first quarterfinal lead with Helen Oketch, Caroline Oketch and Purity Adhiambo contributing six points each.
Kenya stepped up the pace in the the second quarter stretching the lead to 36-17 at the break before pushing the scores to 49-28 in the third quarter.
Mildred Olumasi scored a game high 20 points, while the Oketch Caroline and Helen scored 11 points each.
Purity Adhiambo seemed to have a bad day as she only scored 10 points.
Other scorers for Kenya were Everlyne Adhiambo six points, Debra Obunga and Mercy Ettyang four points each while Linet Atieno managed three points.
Benin were lifted by Housesou Chr who scored 13 points while Adjai Emm and Kondo Al scored nine and six points respectively.
Title favourites Mali and Hosts Tunisia are due to meet in the finals on Sunday night.
