SEYCHELLES : Solomon eclipses season-high

PREMIUM COBRAS’ Alao Solomon has eclipsed the previous season-leading 52 points. Against Cascade Bullets on Saturday at the Palais des Sports, the Nigerian player recorded a 56-point performance.

The 21-year-old scored 8, 7, 24 and 17 points in each of the four quarters. His individual SOLOMON … new season-high 56 pointseffort of 56 points, which included one 3-pointer, 21 2-pointers and 11 free-throws, was almost half of his team’s total and it also bettered the whole of the Cascade Bullets team who were steamrollered 114-44 by Premium Cobras.
The Cobras won all four quarters 21-7, 36-11, 33-18 and 24-8 on the way to their 11th victory in 12 games for 23 points and third place in the 10-team Men’s Division One standings.
Former Angels’ shooter Darren Lesperance was Premium Cobras’ second best scorer, coming off the bench to score 14 points, while fellow substitutes Nigerian Simon Pusam and Steve Servina added 12 and 10 apiece.
The Bullets, who got 17 points from playmaker Christopher ‘Toto’ Camille, have now conceded 11 defeats in 14 games for 17 points.
Solomon got the previous season-leading 52 points when he almost single-handedly destroyed PLS Hawks in his first match against the defending champions. They registered a come-from-behind 89-86 win.
Premium Cobras made a remarkable comeback in the fourth quarter during which they outscored the Hawks 35-17 and during this spell, Solomon got 19 of his game and season-leading 52 points which included 21 free throws, three 3-pointers and 11 2-pointers.
In Saturday’s other top flight match but this time on Praslin, Baya inflicted a fourth consecutive defeat on Praslin Warriors and made sure the Grand Anse Praslin-based team stay winless at home with a 104-69 victory.
With their 12th win in 14 games, Baya are now in the driver’s seat with 26 points – one more than defending champions PLS Hawks who were not in action over the weekend and have a match in hand.
As for the Warriors, they are eighth with 16 points after collecting just three wins in 13 outings.

In the Women’s League, Mont Fleuri got 21 points from Bernadette Songor and Tracey Hétimier added 16 in a 56-34 win against Cadettes who were paced by Veena Panagary with 11 points including two treys.
After losing the first quarter 2-9, Cadettes won the second quarter 15-14 and tied the Mont Fleurians 9-9 before allowing captain Lindy Aglaé and company to outpace them 24-8 in the final 10-minute spell.
Mont Fleuri, who have won five times and lost twice, are second on the six-team table with 12 points – the same total as leaders HotShots who are unbeaten in six games.
Defending champions Anse Etoile Stars are third with 11 points after five wins and a defeat.
Mont Fleuri Dawgz stay on course for automatic promotion to the men’s top flight as they lead the 11-team bottom division with 27 points.
Their latest win was against RA Rockets on a 109-42 score, bringing their win tally to 13 in 14 games.
With captain Christian Toulon scoring 22 points and Jason Jean adding 17 in a 71-48 defeat of Cadets, Anse Etoile are also on 27 points, but have played two matches more than leaders Mont Fleuri Dawgz.
Pointe Larue Falcons defeated Drifters 103-58 to move to fourth place with 23 points. They have two games in hand on leaders Mont Fleuri Dawgz.
